Job Description

Company Overview

At Skild AI, we are building the world's first general purpose robotic intelligence that is robust and adapts to unseen scenarios without failing. We believe massive scale through data-driven machine learning is the key to unlocking these capabilities for the widespread deployment of robots within society. Our team consists of individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new graduates to domain experts. Relevant industry experience is important, but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We are looking for passionate individuals who are eager to explore uncharted waters and contribute to our innovative projects.

Position Overview

As a Technical Animator Intern, you’ll collaborate with engineers and artists to bring realistic motion and character performance to life — connecting animation, physics, and AI. You’ll gain hands-on experience working at the intersection of art and technology within a fast-moving robotics company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of animation pipelines for humanoid and robotic characters.
  • Support rigging, retargeting, and motion capture workflows.
  • Work with engineers to integrate animation data into real-time systems and simulations (e.g., Unreal, Unity, Isaac Sim).
  • Prototype motion blending and procedural animation tools.
  • Help debug and optimize animation assets for runtime performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Animation, Game Development, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Maya, Blender, or MotionBuilder.
  • Basic understanding of rigging, motion capture, and animation principles
  • Python or C++ scripting for animation tools or pipeline automation.
  • Curiosity about simulation, robotics, or physically-based animation.
  • Strong collaborative mindset — comfortable working with both artists and engineers.

Base Salary Range

$100,000—$300,000 USD
