Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Cold Room/Freezers -22degreesF/-6degrees C, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), Office, Rapid flashing lights, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Warehouse, Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

Situated in the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LPG) division at Thermo Fisher Scientific, this position reports to the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) in Bridgewater, NJ.

Step into the role of Senior Manager, Distribution at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. and play a key role in improving our Distribution operations to exceed customer expectations in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and efficiency. Lead a team and drive innovative logistics solutions in a collaborative setting.

A day in the Life:

  • Manage daily distribution operations to consistently meet or surpass crucial benchmarks for inbound and outbound performance, order accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify trends and proactively address operational challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer Service team to align distribution activities with customer delivery requirements and service expectations.
  • Act as the main contact to ensure orders are completed promptly and accurately.
  • Resolve fulfillment-related issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
  • Lead a cross-functional team at the end of each quarter to evaluate performance, identify operational bottlenecks, and drive process improvements.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment on priorities and effective execution of central initiatives.
  • Optimize labor planning, shift scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure appropriate staffing and high productivity across both shifts.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce that can adapt to changing business needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable work environment that encourages associate engagement and growth.
  • Identify training needs and implement development programs to ensure associates are equipped with the skills required for success.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation and problem-solving at all levels of the distribution team.
  • Initiate investigations into process failures, product failures, and safety incidents, determining and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operate a safe work environment through continuous safety awareness and full compliance to all EH&S programs and activities.
  • Work closely with EH&S to nurture a safety-centric environment and enhance safety procedures and measurements. Act as a safety guardian by accurately reporting near misses and taking part in safety seminars.
  • Uphold Thermo Fisher's values and standards in all interactions with customers, ensuring a positive representation of the company's commitment to excellence and reliability in logistics services.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Proven experience as a people leader.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills needed to successfully guide and empower a large team, build connections with employees, colleagues, and management, and prioritize customer service.
  • Must have superb coordination skills to plan, coordinate, and set priorities to facilitate timely execution.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Consistent, dependable, and accurate in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Follows and provides direction accurately and efficiently.

  • Maintains personal composure in high-paced and stressful situations.

This position necessitates working in a fast-paced warehouse setting, involving physical tasks like lifting, standing, and safely using equipment.
